America's Best Baseball Game! Re-Live the Golden Age of Baseball 1900-1935!
THANK YOU for viewing the HUGHIE JENNINGS EE-YAH! BASEBALL GAME website.
My brother, Ron, and I developed the game in the 1970s and just now as we both edge towards retirement, we finally have the time to market it to the world. We have literally played HUGHIE JENNINGS EE-YAH! BASEBALL GAME thousands of times including several actual complete 1922 seasons, tweaking the boards and player cards toward the best realistic experience.
We LIKE current baseball but we LOVE baseball from its glory years which we date circa 1900-1935. I am sure you will agree when I say that baseball is a game that is timeless and its past is always with us like no other sport.
So why name the game HUGHIE JENNINGS EE-YAH! BASEBALL GAME? Hughie Jennings (1869-1928) was an actual baseball player and later a coach for the Detroit Tigers who was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He is probably best known for his colorful antics, hoots, whistles, and his famous shouts of "EE-YAH!" from the third base coaching box.
Well, Hughie to us embodies everything positive about baseball for he was a man who couldn’t wait to get on the field and rooted enthusiastically for his team. Hughie never gave up and inspired his teams to reach their potential all the while having fun.
Now, why 1922? Simply, because 1922 was one of the greatest baseball seasons of all-time. Amazingly, three players hit over .400 (George Sisler – .420; Ty Cobb – .401; and Rogers Hornsby – .401). Babe Ruth smashed 35 home runs but even so he ended up behind Ken Williams (39) of the St. Louis Browns and Clarence “Tillie” Walker (37) of the Philadelphia A’s. It was an all-New York World Series with the Giants besting the Yankees in 4 games (and strangely one tie)—all played in the historic Polo Grounds. And so much more!
